More than a flat wall finish

The effect of a hand-sculpted rock wall comes from its shape and depth. The surface is developed in three dimensions rather than applying a stone pattern to a flat wall. How pronounced the texture should be depends on the room and the intended effect.

The design may cover a single accent wall or incorporate doorways, recesses and other architectural elements. What can be built on the existing substrate is clarified before the work begins.

Developing colour and texture around the room

A pale, restrained rock texture has a different effect from a deeply modelled surface with stronger contrasts. We discuss how the wall should relate to timber, furniture, flooring and lighting. The design should work as part of the room.

Transitions matter too, particularly at doorways and adjoining elements. Measurements and photos help identify these details early. If a mirror or another feature is to be incorporated, it is planned together with the surface.

Homes, retail and hospitality

Interiors have different uses. A home might call for a quiet backdrop, while a shop might need a distinctive visual feature. In hospitality and shared spaces, use and maintenance are relevant alongside appearance.

We develop the design to suit the project. Decisions about construction, suitability and execution are based on the actual space, substrate and requirements, rather than on a reference image alone.

Understanding the scope and cost

For an initial conversation, please send the approximate area, photos of the existing space, the project location and your design idea. Access to the area and your preferred timing also help us understand the scope.

The area, substrate, shape and level of detail all affect the work involved. We therefore discuss cost in relation to your project. QuasiStein is based in Val Gardena, South Tyrol; work in Austria, Germany and Switzerland can be considered on request.
